Texas summer heats are on another level of hot, to say the least. You could go out to the lake or a waterpark but traveling with kids is not easy (or fun) considering all the planning, packing, traveling, and keeping everyone together and entertained throughout the day.
Sometimes staying at home with the family may be just what you need but you all still need a way to cool down. We’ve got you covered with these 5 fun ways to stay cool at home that both kids and adults will enjoy because why should kids have all the fun?
1. Ice Cube Painting
Fill up your ice cube tray with water like normal but mix different food colorings in each of the sections. When the cubes are frozen, have your kids use them to “paint” on paper as the cubes melt. This will help their creativity flow while staying cool. It’s also great because you’ll have safe, non-toxic paint for kiddos who still have trouble not putting things in their mouth.
2. Make Your Own Snow
Just like people do makeshift sandy beaches in the winter, you can do a makeshift snowfall this summer. All you need is corn starch, white foam shaving cream, and a large container (and also glitter if you’re feeling adventurous).
Grab your large container then mix together 2 16-ounce boxes of cornstarch with white foam shaving cream as needed. Dollar store shaving cream will work just fine. You can double these ingredients if you have more kiddos or just want more snow.
3. Rent a Water Slide
Cool down this summer with your very own water slide rental right in your backyard or your front yard. Rather than going to the beach or a public swimming pool, fire up the grill and spend some relaxing time at home cooling off. We have water slide rentals of all shapes and sizes so you’ll surely find one that fits your needs this summer!
4. Make Your Own Splash Pad
This is great for kids of all ages. All you need to do is spread out a nice clean tarp on your yard and place a sprinkler nearby and voila! They have their own splash play area!
To make this more baby or infant friendly, try to make it more of a splash play area. You will want to pour some water into a large but shallow pan (like a baking sheet or pan). Set your baby on a blanket on their tummy facing the pan and give them toys or sponges to play with in the water.
5. Throw a “Chill” Dessert Party
Host a quick and casual “chill” dessert party where “chill” means relaxing and it means to chill out from the heat with dessert! For this dessert party, bring on all the cold sweet treats like snow cones, ice cream, frozen yogurt, frozen fruit, popsicles, frozen chocolate pie, fruit parfaits, and more!
Elevate your cool down by making your very own snow cones with our premium snow cone machine rental complete with a table for setting up, supplies to serve 50 (cups and spoons), and 7 different syrup flavors.
